The Freedom Equestrian Drill Team Association (FEDTA) was created by devoted drill team people to fulfill the need for knowledge and activities for all people interested in the sport of drill.

FEDTA is the only drill association in Texas dedicated to helping teams improve their skills and move to the next level by giving clinics throughout the year and going to those teams who need help.

Our Plans for 2010

The Freedom Equestrian Drill Team Association here in Texas is holding two events this year:

March 13, 2010  A drill clinic in Speegleville Saddle Club Arena, close to Waco Texas, that covered everything from soup to nuts. Click here for photos.  We helped a number of teams who needed a little work to go back to basics. We spent the morning in the classroom covering topics including outfitting teams on a budget, to dealing with problem members. To ensure individual attention, we limited the clinic to a certain number of teams.

After taking the class outside, the group was divided into four teams and given twenty minutes to learn a basic drill on foot. When that time was up each team mounted their horses and we had a small drill competition to see which team could do this basic drill the best at a trot.

It was a lot of fun; we got to meet more drill people; and we all made new friends. More drill clinics are planned for next year. If you know someone who is interested in the FEDTA bringing a clinic to your area, you just need to contact Barb at SalsaBarb44@hotmail.com and let’s make it happen!

September 18, 2010  The Fall Classic Drill Competition at the Limestone County Fair Grounds in Groesbeck, Texas, will be a one-day competition. Mark your calendars and plan to come. It will be a great way to wind down the drill season. The arena and stalls are covered and there are hookups as well.  See more information in our flyer.  Entry forms are here and here.
